+ more about andrea

While studying psychology, back in 1996, at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts Andrea’s was inspired by a chance encounter outside of the classroom. While riding on a city bus she struck up a conversation with the stranger sitting beside her. The stranger was visiting his girlfriend who happened to work in the home of a toddler with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Andrea was intrigued by the girlfriend’s career choice to work with an autistic child in their home teaching them language and functional life skills. Her interest in this line of work grew immensely, and she was drawn to its impact by reading books like, “Let Me Hear Your Voice” by Catherine Maurice. She eventually took the necessary steps and found an internship in London, England where she worked with a four-year-old boy while attending one of the first ABA programs in the city. She was supervised by a graduate of Columbia University who encouraged her to apply to the Department of Behavior Disorders at Columbia’s Teacher’s College in New York City. In 1999, Andrea graduated with a bachelor’s of art in psychology and immediately started the master of the art program in Behavior Disorders at Columbia University, where she earned her post-graduate degree in 2001.

Soon after receiving her master’s degree, Andrea began her career as a Special Education Teacher in Paramus, New Jersey. This private school was specifically for children with Autism, and afforded her the privilege of working with, and being mentored, by Bridget Taylor - the clinical director - who happened to be the therapist she read about in Let Me Hear Your Voice – it was fate! It was at that time where she mastered writing skill acquisition programs, behavior plans, and life skills education for children, aged twelve (12) – seventeen (17) both in the classroom setting as well through effective home consultation. Andrea later received Board Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (December 2002).

Beginning in 2003, Andrea worked for Behavioral Concepts, INC. - a private Massachusetts-based company where she spent eight (8) years writing programs and supervising therapists who provided ABA services to school-aged children of all abilities. Additionally, she consulted with parents and teachers. During this time, she began to dive deep into advanced verbal behavior and began to integrate this practice by shaping language/communication with her clients using a variety of modalities (Sign, vocal-verbal, augmentative communication).

After becoming Clinical Director at a private company in Florida, she gained even more experience affording her the ability to launch Gulf Coast ABA & Autism Services, LLC (formerly known as Motivation ABA Consulting, LLC) where she continues to improve the lives of children and teens.

Andrea stands behind the philosophy that a comprehensive and supportive approach to therapy both in the home and in a clinical setting is critical. Through her work she helps children and teens gain independence while inspiring confidence in parents, and integrating families back into their communities.

Andrea Constantino specializes in this area, having helped over 200 toddlers, children, and teens throughout the years.
